Facebook Launches Joinable Group Video Calls

As of 24 April 2020, Facebook is rolling out Messenger Rooms in some countries. These are joinable group video calls that will soon hold up to 50 people. A Facebook user can choose who can see and join the group call. One can let a friend join that video call even without a Facebook account via a URL. Just share the room on Facebook’s News Feed, Groups, or Events. It would then be easy for an audience to drop by. There’s no need to download. Invited people can join from a phone or computer right away. The host has full control of the group call. He can remove people from the call or lock the room.

Facebook will complete rolling out Messenger Rooms in the coming weeks.

Conclusion:

As more people turn to video chat, Facebook makes it easy for people to connect to the world. The joinable group video call can be a better option for Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams.

Implications for Marketers:

With Messenger Rooms, brands can hold conferences and invite audiences to join. It can also be an opportunity for virtual speakership to increase reach and credibility.
